As iPhones and iPads enable video recording in 4K, your phone’s storage capacity soon drains out. You can’t just flush out videos to save a bit, as some videos can precious to you. So the right way to get free space without losing videos is by copying them to a personal computer. You needn’t to pay for any software or add-on to perform the function. It’s all like dragging and dropping the files from here to there.
Here is how you can do it using your USB cable:
Step 1: Connect your iPhone / iPad to your PC using the lightening cable. If you have iPhone 4s or earlier version, you can use 30-pin to connect.
Step 2: Press Windows Key + E. It will launch a File Explorer Window
Step 3: Now wake your iPhone and unlock it. If prompted, tap ‘Trust this computer’
Step 4: Click on your iPhone under This PC
Step 5: Double-click on Internal Storage on the right, then on DCIM. It opens up one or more folders, labeled 100APPLE, 101APPLE, 102APPLE etc
Step 6: In case you want the most recent videos, click on the folder with the highest number. For the oldest ones, go the folder with the lowest number.
Step 7: In the folder selected, Photos, screenshots and videos are displayed in a list with ascending numbers according to their chronological order. It’s up to you whether you select everything in the folder, or just select the videos. Hold the Ctrl key while clicking on various files to select them.
Step 8. Once you have selected the file(s) or Folder(s), right-click on the selected files, copy them and paste into a folder of your preference.
