In order to overshadow the Twitter’s challenge, Facebook too announced a new feature ‘dubbed trending’ to let people tap and involve with hot topics gaining momentum across the social networks. Facebook CEM Chris Struhar announced on Friday –
“Today we’re announcing Trending, a new product that’s designed to surface interesting and relevant conversations in order to help you discover the best content from all across Facebook.”
The Facebook trending feature launched is most likely to be an attempt to boost engagement on the website by offering enticing headlines to the people on trending topic. This trending feature is currently available on the web in the countries U.S., UK, Canada, India and Australia. The feature is not available on the Facebook mobile messenger and Facebook tests it for mobile apps.The trending feature will be visible at the top right of the people’s news feed. Although it will be highlight the trend, these trends will also be custom tailored, based on people’s interests.
