Facebook is all set to embed 6 freshly curated emoticons to its social network. Company’s chief product officer Chris Cox tipped that these emoticons are heading to the final launch very soon in multiple countries. He has also explained how the social network zeroed upon these five internationally-recognized emotions alongside the world famous Like button.
If all goes well, Facebook users across the globe will be responding with new ‘angry’, ‘sad’, ‘wow’, ‘haha’ or ‘love’ emoticons within a week or so. They are already being tested and depolyed in six countries. The company is still mulling on ‘yay’ as this emotion is not universally understood.
The final selection was made after several round of discussions with sociologists. A dedeicated team of professionals spent hundreds of hours to find out some of the most common reactions across its network. These emotions are easy to use. Hold your thumb on the Like button to see and scroll through complete list of emotions and choose one that expresses your mood.
