Google Shortens Title Tag Length After Redesign

With it’s recently introduced search result redesign Google proposed short Title length displayed in the Google search result in blue clickable link. Peter Meyers from Moz said that new title tag length isn’t yet specified but will be between 42 and 68 character long as per Google algorithm.

Pete told that it would have no impact on the search rankings. Google cuts off the length of the title tag but it necessarily doesn’t mean that Google is planning to impact rankings. The Google redesign has increased the font size of result titles and left the size of the container intact. Look at the following search result both before and after the redesign:
