Samsung’s next flagship galaxy device Samsung Galaxy S8 might be launched without a home button and navigation keys. If it happens, this would be the next device after iPhone 8 that comes without home button. Like other Galaxy phones, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will skip touch sensitive navigation keys, a common trend since 2010 when Samsung launched its first Galaxy handset.
Android Police reported the news by saying that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is going to have a more compact design. The phone might have body-to-screen ratio similar to what it was rumored in Mi Mix. To achieve this screen ratio, makers were forced to remove the physical buttons and moving to the onscreen navigation and home buttons. This is a standard practice with most of the Android phones.
Removal of the home button and navigation keys are going to be the biggest makeshift in phone’s design. It’s also rumored that the company could shift the fingerprint scanner to the back, which is currently inside the home button. Google has already shifted fingerprint scanner to the back and many phone makers have followed the trend thereafter.
