Twitter, the US based microblogging site, has appointed Taranjeet Singh as the head, India business. The appointment is being seen as Twitter’s attempt to capture India, one of the biggest internet markets of the world. In a press note, Twitter said that Taranjeet will be responsible for exploring more business opportunities for the company in India. He well stretch the company presence in India by working closely with the big brands. The company looks confident that Taranjeet will be able to maximize value of real-time marketing in India.
In a statement, Twitter’s managing director (Southeast Asia, India and Middle East and North Africa) Parminder Singh said:
“India is a very important market for us. We’ve seen strong usage of our platform across the board last year and now is a great time to increase our local sales presence by bringing in Taranjeet as our country business head.”
Twitter is very excited about its growing business prospects in India. Singh said that major brands and blue-chip establishments are increasingly using Twitter to connect their audience in real time. They leverage twitter to make their audience informed about the events, happenings and moments. Prior to joining the Twitter, Taranjeet held various positions in big companies such as BBC and Outlook. In 2014, Twitter alone had 18.1 million users in India, third largest in the world.
