I remember my first time creating my own site using WordPress. I had absolutely no idea. From what themes to choose, how to customize what I’ve selected to what are plugins and how do I know which kinds do I need.
Top Visual Design WordPress Plugins
Good thing, my techie friend helped me out set up my WordPress during those times. I felt like I was going to have a migraine if I did it on my own.
Anyway, I’m no WordPress expert but I’m happy to share what I found out.
So What Are Plugins?
Just to refresh you a litte, according to a helpful learning video by Morten Rand-Hendriksen posted on one of my favorite learning websites, Lynda, WordPress plugins are extensions that are literally plug in so you can add new features and functionality.
He further explains that while it’s true the WordPress alone is already powerful but when you install plugins your website will be able to do more. Isn’t that pretty sweet?
What Plugins Should You Install?
I think with this one, there’s no right or wrong. It just really depends on what you are looking for. And with lots of awesome plugins available, you just really have to test them out for yourself.
For instance, there are plugins specifically for SEO. WPBeginner suggested these 9 best ones:
1. WordPress SEO by Yoast
2. SEMrush
3. Google Keyword Planner
4. KeywordTool.io
5. Open Site Explorer
6. LinkPatrol
7. Broken Link Checker
8. Rel NoFollow Checkbox
9. SEOquake
You can check them out if you are aiming to improve your SEO. Anyway, I’m just sharing this to make a point.
If however, you want to enhance the design of your site, here’s a great set of choices of plugins listed in this infographic made with Visme you can choose from. Try them out to see which one is more suitable to you and your WordPress.
