Twitter Tests Mute Button : It’s Like ‘Unfollow’ Feature in Facebook

Twitter, your darling micro-blogging site is planning to introduce a ‘mute’ button for android and iOS apps. The button acts exactly the ‘Unfollow’ feature in Facebook functions that enable users to block someone’s posts, without entirely unfollowing them. Using this button you can mute annoying persons who incessantly bother you. And all this without letting that person know.

When you mute accounts you prevent other users’ tweets and retweets from appearing on your timeline. You need to mute/unmute users manually since no automatic mechanism is yet made by twitter.  The feature is already available with Tweetdeck, a client acquired by Twitter. Users can also find the mute feature in third-party clients such as Tweetbot.
