Twitter Timeline Switcher Feature is Here
Twitter, the microblogging legend has been testing feature that will allow users a way to toggle between chronological and algorithm feeds.
Twitter Timeline Switcher Feature is all Here
There are reports that the feature is being tested with a select group of iOS users and certain employees at Twitter.
A button is given there to quickly switch between the Latest Tweets and Top Tweets. The tweets will be shown on the top right in the Twitter app’s home screen. As user taps on the button, it brings up an option to switch to either view the latest Tweets (i.e., chronological) or top Tweets (i.e., algorithm-based). The feature even allows users to view their content preferences.
To recall, algorithm-based Timeline was earlier introduced in 2016 that resulted in huge furor and backlash from users. As the feature is all here, Twitter will start showing tweets that the company thinks would be interesting to the users.
For example, when Twitter sorts posts based on algorithms on Facebook and Instagram. Often, this can result in you missing out on some posts from people or accounts you follow. Announcing the feature, Twitter said the following:
“So, we’re working on providing you with an easily accessible way to switch between a timeline of Tweets that are most relevant for you and a timeline of the latest Tweets. You’ll see us test this in the coming weeks.”
Twitter noted that the timeline switcher feature is being tested with select users and Twitter teams and will be visible to a small number of users on iOS. In addition to the timeline switcher feature, Twitter has also added a Floating Action Button in its iOS app that opens the Tweet compose box.
