The news could go tough for the Twitter and social fraternity as well. In a shocking revelation, Twopcharts, a social media tracking site claimed that out of 244 million registered twitter users, 44 percent of Twitter accounts haven’t even made a single tweet and 30 percent have sent only 1-10 tweets. Twitter announced its IPO in 2013 with 244 million monthly active users but the news could send shivers to the Twitter bosses. Only 13 percent of total Twitter users have made more than 100 tweets.
The report focused on Twitter retention issues. The report estimated that around 542.1 million registered Twitter accounts have sent at least one tweet since they were created. The scenario suggests that more than half of the accounts are actively using the services or showing interest in it. Twitter, in order to engage more users redesigned its layout and offered it a Facebook like look. A new pop-up notification feature has also been introduced to enhance the user engagement.
