Facebook owned WhatsApp is testing a new location tracking feature on messenger. As the name implies, the feature will track the live location of your friends in real time.

Tipster website WABetaInfo, known for publishing WhatsApp leaks, suggested the feature via twitter. The blog reads that the feature will work on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.3.28 for iOS, 2.16.399+ on Android and will be disabled by default.

Gadget website Phonearena explains the feature by saying that the tracking can be kept on for 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, or indefinitely. The feature will be very helpful if you’ve to meet your friend group at a certain location and time, and you want to track their exact location.

The Live Location Tracking comes disabled by default. Which means the feature needs to activate it when it is ready to be launched.

Over the years, WhatsApp has consistently launched several user-friendly features for its 900 million users worldwide. This is one among all those features we were waiting for. In December last year, WhatsApp added a feature to revoke and edit the sent messages in a beta version testing. The feature is currently available in WhatsApp beta for the iOS 2.17.1.869 platform.
