WhatsApp Surpassed 1 Billion Downloads On Android

WhatsApp, the #1 cross-platform messaging platform added another glory to its kitty. As per an official announcement, the messenger has crossed the mark of 1 billion downloads on Google play store for android smartphones. WhatsApp founder and CEO, Jan Koum has made the announcement.

WhatsApp Surpassed 1 Billion Downloads

The number of downloads are unique and shouldn’t be confused with the active users. Earlier in January this year, WhatsApp maintained that it has over 700 million active users and the company recently started rolling out voice calling feature to the application.

Prior to WhatsApp, Gmail, Google search, AngryBirds, YouTube and Facebook were the apps that had been downloaded over a billion times.
